Modernizing the BC Motor Vehicle Act (MVA)
HUB Cycling collaborates with the BC Cycling Coalition and many other advocacy groups to support laws that better protect people walking, cycling, and rolling. Since 2016, we have made several recommendations to the Provincial Government. To achieve the safest roads in North America, BC will need to invest in evidence-based reforms and a culture shift for road safety and equity.
#UnGapTheMap
Over 40% of people want to cycle but currently don’t, and for many of them, it’s because they are concerned about unsafe route conditions. HUB Cycling is working with municipalities, TransLink, and the provincial government to #UnGapTheMap across Metro Vancouver so that more people can cycle more often!
Cycle Highways in Metro Vancouver
Cycle Highways provide safe, protected, uninterrupted cycle routes over long distances and are a cost-effective way to make cycling more accessible and practical. HUB Cycling's in-depth report highlights the case for the development and implementation of Cycle Highways in Metro Vancouver.
Cycle Tourism in B.C.
People are already engaging in cycle tourism across BC, seeking out bike tour companies, accommodations, restaurants and coffee shops, and related services. But there is not currently concerted BC cycle tourism sector coordination or a single portal to this information.
HUB Cycling’s goal is to better understand the current state of BC cycling tourism and what’s needed to expand it in future. We also intend to make a useful information and trip–planning platform to showcase existing offerings, and attract and encourage more bike tourism.
